Alfred Liotta, an adjunct professor at Mercy College and author of “When Students Grieve” and an accompanying bereavement counseling course, was invited to his alma mater, SUNY Oneonta, to discuss the book, the course and his life as part of the college’s Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series. Liotta graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1967.
Liotta is a certified pastoral bereavement counselor and is a parish and program facilitator in the Archdiocese of New York. He also is a certified grief counselor with the international Association of Death Education and Counseling, a licensed master social work and a licensed mental health counselor. He served in New York City schools for 32 years, much of it as an administrator.
