We will have today’s softball games covered like a glove (pun intended)
I will be live from North Rockland High School beginning at 5:30 p.m. for the Class AA final between Carmel and Ketcham. Here’s a friendly reminder of how to follow me:

Phil will be live at Rhinebeck High School for the Class B state regional semifinal between Valhalla and Marlboro. Follow on twitter @philterrigno
Our colleague Jermanie Dennis will be live at North Rockland before me covering Haldane and Chester in the Class C state regional semifinal. Follow him here @TheRealJDennis
Now here’s a look at how I think the day will go:
We will go in time order:
Class C regional semifinals: Haldane vs. Chester: This is a similar point that the Blue Devils got to last year before they were eliminated by Tuxedo. The Haldane bats need to really come alive. Chester has solid pitching, and as the Section 9 championship proved, they hit can hit the cover off the ball. If the Blue Devils can do what they did against Tuckahoe, get on the board early, they’ll have an excellent chance to win the game. But the biggest key for the Blue Devils is Marley Chefalo in the circle. She’s not a power arm by any stretch but what she does well is keeping hitters off balance by mixing up her spots and hitting them. So she needs to hit those spots. The Blue Devils have good pop in their lineup from Allie Monteleone and Sam Lisikatos. Prediction: Haldane over Chester. Next up: The winner will play Section 11’s Pierson/Bridgehampton at North Rockland Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. That’s if Haldane wins.
Class B regional semifinals: Valhalla vs. Marlboro: Like Chester, Marlboro showed a lot of pop in their bat in the Section 9 Championship. One of the things that I’ve liked about Valhalla all year is that they can hit the cover off the ball too. Kaylie Dymek, Brandi Coon, Alyssa Lombardoo and Alyssa Coluntuno have shown a hot stick in the Section 1 tournament. Sydni Holtz really came into her own this year, having the experience from gettting to the state final four last year. They were able to overcome the “Rhinebeck HS stigma” last year to make the state final four. With many of the same kids back from last year, as long as the Vikings wake the bats up early and Holtz really mixes up her pitches, they will make the state regional finals. Prediction: Valhalla over Marlboro but the game will be close. Next up: The winner will play the winner of Section 8’s East Rockaway and Section 11’s Babylon. The game time on Wednesday will be 4 p.m. but the site will depend on who wins. If it’s East Rockaway, the game will be at Mitchell’s Athletic field in Uniondale but if it’s Babylon, the game will be at St. Joe’s College in Patchouge.
Section 1 Class AA finals: No. 2 Carmel vs. No. 1 Ketcham: The last two times these teams played each other, Carmel won them both in extra innings — the first time was 10 innings, and the second time was a 13 inning thriller. The Rams have had a fantastic season behind the arm of Jasmine Ennabe. Sam Duffy, Brittany Alloca, and Sam Fernandez have been fantastic offensively. Alyssa Rodia, who will be heading to Columbia next year, needs to continue to play like a top notch college bound player. For Ketcham, Casey Herzog has been one of the best pitchers in the area for a very long time. She needs to continue to pitch like one of the best players. But she can’t do it all by herself. She needs her offesne to step up. Predicition: Ketcham 4, Carmel 2. Only because it is hard to beat a team three times in one season. Next up: The winner will play Section 4’s Union-Endicott Wednesday at the BAGSAI Softball complex.
