A Cinco de Mayo Party held at El Centro Hispano in White Plains celebrated the strides made by 25 kindergarten and first grade students who took part in a reading comprehension program that was sponsored by The Center for Literacy Enrichment-Pace University.
The program, which met twice weekly for 15 weeks, was made possible with support from The Margaret T. Canning Foundation. Special guests on hand to congratulate the children on their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills improvement were Isabel E. Villar, Executive Director of El Centro Hispano; White Plains Mayor Tom Roach; Nick Wolff, member of the Boards of El Centro Hispano and The Center for Literacy Enrichment; and Sister St. John Delany, PhD, Director of the Center for Literacy Enrichment.
