The Greenburgh Police Department was officially granted reaccreditation this month after meeting New York state standards over the last five-year period.
Police Chief Joseph DeCarlo said applying for reaccreditation helps law enforcement agencies evaluate and improve overall performance. It provides formal recognition that an organization meets or exceeds general expectations in the field.
The Police Department was first recognized by the state as an accredited agency in 2003. It was then reaccredited in 2008.
