Mayor Thomas Roach will kick off the city’s “Jump In and Swim” initiative Monday afternoon (Feb. 25) with a press conference at the White Plains High School swimming pool.
Free swim classes and water activities for children and adults will be offered throughout March as part of the program aimed at helping residents of all ages learn basic swimming skills and water safety.
Roach, who will be joined by officials from the city Recreation and Parks Department and Youth Bureau, White Plains Hospital, the White Plains YMCA, the YWCA of White Plains and the White Plains School District, will outline details of the initiative.
No word from City Hall on whether the mayor plans to take a dip during the press conference.
