In these challenging economic times, people need all the help they can get to keep track of their finances.
That’s why Westchester Community College is offering residents an opportunity to participate in the second annual Financial Education Day, a free conference on Saturday, March 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at the Gateway Center.
The event on the college’s Valhalla campus gives participants the chance to attend workshops presented by some of the Hudson Valley’s leading financial experts, who will address a wide range of financial questions people encounter on a daily basis, such as retirement planning, money management and building economic security.
Kiran Chetry, a former CNN and Fox News anchor, is featured as the event’s keynote speaker. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast, which will be followed by the keynote address at 9:00. Residents then have a chance to choose between 26 hour-long workshops focused on specific financial topics.
Presentations will be made by speakers from a host of leading financial firms, including Ameriprise Financial, JPMorgan Chase and Merrill Lynch. There will also be private consultations available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WCC officials say the services are offered on a “no-strings-attached” basis, and individual sessions will be kept strictly confidential.
If you’re interested in registering, visit mysunywcc.org and look for Financial Education Day on the calendar, or sign-up by calling (914) 606-6559. You can also show up on the day of the event, but space is limited and participants are strongly encouraged to register in advance.
