The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Recovery Center at the Westchester County Center in White Plains will cease operations at 6 p.m. Friday (Dec. 21).
The center has provided face-to-face information and help to more than 890 victims of Hurricane Sandy since Nov. 8 and will continue to do so until it shuts down. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Once the White Plains center closes, those who still need help can find others by texting DRC and a zip code to 43362 (4FEMA) and a text message will be sent back with the address. You can also log on to www.FEMA.gov/disaster-recovery-centers [1] for FEMA’s recover center locator or all 800-621-3362.
Individuals can also register for help online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov [2] or by calling 800621-3362.
