White Plains will host its annual holiday tree lighting extravaganzafrom 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 2) at Tibbits Park.
A tradition in White Plains, the “City Lights Bright Holiday Nights” event provides an opportunity for those who live or work in the city to come together and celebrate the holiday season.
This year’s celebration will include music by the White Plains High School Band, the Eastview School Select Chorus, Taiko Drummers and the new Forever Young Singers. Free refreshments will be served.
Featured attractions include an ice carving exhibit, winter games, skating in the fountain sponsored by Shop Rite, crafts, mini train and carousel rides and visits with Frosty, Rudolph and of course, Santa. Mayor Thomas Roach will light the tree, which was planted last year as a permanent fixture in the park. In past years, the city used trees that were cut down and donated.
Tibbits Park is located at North Broadway and Main Street.
