One lane in each direction on Ashford Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Southfield Avenue and Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) starting this Wednesday.
Closures will continue weekdays until Friday, October 12 as immediate repairs are made to the county-owned Ashford Avenue bridge that connects Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry.
The $1.5 million project includes the stabilization of existing bride piers, which is already underway. These repairs are in addition to $20 million designated for the long-term rehabilitation of the bridge.
Football-sized chunks of concrete fell from bridge during rush hour on June 22 and struck vehicles on the Thruway. The bridge was built in 1950 and carries more than 20,000 cars a day.
