Applications are now being accepted by the White Plains Youth Bureau for its annual Youth of the Year Award, given to a graduating high school senior in recognition of outstanding volunteer service and contributions to the city.
The award is open to public and private school students who are residents of White Plains.
Service may include tutoring or mentoring, helping senior citizens, raising money for charities, running food or clothing drives, organizing community events and similar activities.
The deadline to nominate a high school senior for the award is Oct. 15. Application forms can be obtained at the Youth Bureau, 1 Amherst Place and on the internet at www.cityofwhiteplains.com, the City of White Plains website.
The award will be presented at the Nov. 5 meeting of the Common Council.
