In response to the need for an affordable religious education, Chabad of the Rivertowns is offering one year of free tuition to kindergarteners interested in attending Hebrew school.
Chabad Rabbi Benjy Silverman said many families hesitate to begin formal Jewish education at younger ages due to financial challenges. He believes there is a greater impact on children the earlier they get involved with the program.
The Chabad Hebrew School holds classes on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The school says it welcomes every Jew, regardless of religious background or level of observance. It does not require membership as a condition for enrollment.
