Congratulations to Max Crawley, a White Plains High School freshman whose design was chosen to be printed on re-usable shopping bags in a collaboration between the city and local retailers to cut the use of plastic bags.
Retailers including Shop Rite, Whole Foods and Stop & Shop are paying for production of the bags, which will be distributed to shoppers in the fall. Mayor Thomas Roach said the idea is to promote recycling. and raise awareness about the harmful affect plastic bags have on the environment.
A complete report on the “BYOB – Bring Your Own Bag” initiative will appear in the May 24 edition of the White Plains Express.
