Greenburgh’s water department will restart its hyrdrant flushing program on Monday. The maintenance initiative, which ensures hydrants are in good condition and flushes sediment from the system, will continue until May 11.
Flushing will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Officials say customers can temporarily expect lower water pressure and discolored water. The discoloration is caused by air and silt and is harmless, officials say. However, residents are advised to monitor water before doing laundry and to keep water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking.
The flushing process will affect the following neighborhoods:
Fairview, Hartsdale Hills, Suburban Manor, Orchard Hill, Centennial Manor, Fairgrounds, New Park, Fulton Park, Juniper Hill, Fair Street, Lawns & Manor and Woodlands.
