White Plains Firefighter James Van Loan was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in a ceremony Monday at Public Safety Headquarters. The department also swore in two new firefighters, Cole Martin and Anthony Scopelliti.

Van Loan joined the department in 1989 and is a certified New York StateCode Enforcement Officer. He’ll be assigned to the fire prevention division, where he’ll be responsible for reducing the loss of life and property by fire through code enforcement. Scopelliti and Martin will begin their 16-week training at the Westchester County Career Chiefs Academy on April 2.
