WHITE PLAINS
A pile of debris ignited on on the top floor of a four-story Westy Self-Storage warehouse under construction at 179 Westmoreland Ave. today, and firefighters quickly extinguished it.
The fire broke about about 12:15 p.m., and 12 firefighters put it out in five minutes. A handful of construction workers in the warehouse had made their way outside by the time firefighters arrived. No one was injured. Firefighters were trying to determine how the fire started.
Westmoreland has industrial buildings and warehouses. It’s north of the Rochambeau school on Fisher Avenue and about a block away.
