Three candidates have come forward for May 17’s White Plains school board election, forcing a contested race for two available seats.
Rosemarie Eller, who joined the board in 2005 and became board president last year, will be running for another three-year term along with incumbent Randy Stein, who has served since 2008.
Lori Hardy, a district parent who has not previously run for the board, is also running. She said she has been disappointed with the board’s lack of communication and connections with the elementary schools and wanted to improve that situation.
Residents will also vote on the 2011-12 budget on May 17. The spending plan is $185.5 million, up 1.1 percent from this year, with a tax rate increase of 2.7 percent. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
