Five area grocery stores owned by the A&P supermarket chain will be closing as part of the company’s bankruptcy reorganization, A&P representatives confirmed today.
In New Rochelle, the decision means the shuttering of the Pelham Road A&P sometime around April 15. Another A&P on Quaker Ridge road was spared.
A&P will also close area supermarkets in Carmel, Greenburgh and Port Chester, as well as a store it operates under the Pathmark brand on Central Avenue in Hartsdale. They are among 32 stores being closed overall by the chain under its Chapter 11 filing.
