I just got an e-mail blast from the Westchester Wine Warehouse in White Plains, which is putting this Jets wine on sale for $24.99 this week. Pretty timely, I’d say!
Here’s what the e-mail said:
The New York Jets are proud to announce the release of their first signature wine. This premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was created by celebrated winemaker Marco DiGiulio to commemorate the 2010 season and the opening of the New Meadowlands Stadium. Marco DiGiulio has created some of the most well known Cabernet Sauvignons in Napa Valley.
95 Pts – Robert Parker
In classic Napa Valley fashion, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is bursting with ripe red and black fruit flavors and substantial, but well integrated tannins. There’s just enough French oak to add complexity without obscuring the purity of the fruit. The long spicy finish is an invitation to enjoy another sip.
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, which has a great complexity and intensity,is largely all Cabernet Sauvignon with just a touch of Cabernet Franc. The owners daughter, Beth Novak, along with, Rosemary Cakebread and Jennifer Williams, made an great decision in bottling this wine later than normal to resolve tannin issues, and they succeeded. The wine has a gorgeous nose of violets, black currants, licorice, camphor, and a hint of graphite. Layered, rich, and full-bodied, opaque purple color as well as wonderful purity and balance. It could be considered the wine worlds version of haute couture at a top address in Paris.
