Students from Good Counsel Academy raise money for the Elmsford Animal Shelter
The Entrepreneur Club at Good Counsel Academy hand delivered a check for $300 to the Elmsford Animal Shelter/Pets Alive West yesterday.
The Entrepreneur Club, an after-school program at the White Plains elementary school, helps students create and sell products or services to raise money for a charity of their choice. The students learn about book keeping and working as a team.
This year, the Entrepreneur Club named it’s company “GCA Helping Hands,” which created Halloween necklaces, pins and treats that were sold at the Good Counsel Craft Fair in October. They also decorated cans, labeled “Pennies for Paws,” that where placed in each classroom to collect change totaling more than $125.
The students, fifth and sixth-graders, where able to pet the animals as they toured the shelter on Wednesday.

Kudos to The Entrepreneur Club for not only teaching young people important skills that they will always be able to use but also for teaching the importance of giving back to others. It is inspiring to read stories like this about these types of clubs. These students are learning that it is always better to give than to receive and that their efforts and creativity can and will have an impact. This is what real success is all about.
