Sleepy Hollow Cemetery hosts 160th anniversary celebration

Soldiers_MonumentThe historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will host it’s 160th anniversary celebration with residents and dignitaries tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Washington Irving Chapel.

The celebration will include a presentation of a proclamation to the Cemetery Board and the cemetery’s induction into the New York State Register of Historic Places. Free tours of the famous site and refreshments will be available.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, which serves as the backdrop to Washington Irving’s short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” has been home to famous residents including the author, Andrew Carnegie and William Rockefeller.
