Three Westchester county libraries were awarded grants totaling more than $160,000 for various upgrades and construction projects.
State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins announced last week that three libraries within her 35th Senate District have been awarded funding for renovations:
-The Mount Pleasant Public Library will receive $45,644 to replace walkways at both entrances and replacement of exterior lighting system.
-The Warner Library in Tarrytown will receive $4,776 to enhance handicap access by installing automatic sliding door at its side entrance.
-The Ardsley Public Library was awarded $118, 184 for the construction of conduit between a new addition and original building, renovation of lighting, roofing, and siding, and reconfiguration of existing space to accommodate Internet access.
The grants were provided by the New York State Legislature in the 2009-2010 State budget and will help the local libraries and library systems to update technology, meet energy efficient standards and improve handicap accessibility.
