Greenburgh Public Library celebrates “Teen Tech Week”
Greenburgh Public Library is celebrating “Teen Tech Week,” a national initiative to encourage teens to take advantage of libraries’ non-print resources.
Greenburgh will showcase resources available to teens this week, aiming to foster creativity and exploration of the various types of technology available at or through the library—including DVDs, music, gaming, video production, online homework help, social networking, tech workshops and audio books.
The Greenburgh Public Library offers:
•BookNews-a teen book recommendation service featuring reviews of books selected by Greenburgh teen librarians.
•Dear Reader-free, online book clubs divided into categories. Teens can receive a book sampling, or a five-minute selection from a chapter via email.
•Teen Talk Weblog- interactive discussions about the most popular books.
•Tutor.com- online homework help available to teens with an active Greenburgh Public Library card.
•Schmoop.com- a free beta database with online critical analysis and primary source documents to literature work, U.S. history, biographies and music.
Teen Tech Week is a national initiative sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association.
