Neither rain nor wind nor lack of sun will stop Sunday’s 9th Annual White Plains Hispanic Day Parade and Festival, organizers said today.
“We’ve never had rain at the parade and we don’t have a rain date, said city spokeswoman Melissa Lopez. “We’ll be marching, rain or shine.”
Mayor Joseph Delfino will serve as grand marshal of this year’s extravaganza, featuring bands, dancers, and folk lore groups representing 21 countries.
The festivities kick off an noon, when the parade will make it’s way down Mamaroneck Avenue to Main Street. Immediately afterward, the cultural festival featuring traditional foods, music, dancing, children’s games and other activities will take place on Court Street between Main Street and Martine Avenue, ending at 5 p.m.
